More Points in the ‘Bag’ for City
MCFC U18s 4 - 0 WBAFC U18s
By Andrew Waldon
Yet another barn storming display from City’s academy side saw four
goals registered with none in reply from the visiting West Bromwich
Albion side.
Left Back Ryan McGivern headed home a corner on twenty six minutes and
when Slovakian Robbie Mak twisted and turned past two bamboozled
defenders to make it two, five minutes later, the game as a contest was
over for the Baggies.
Top scorer Mak added a further goal just before the half time whistle,
racing from the half way line past a static back four to score a fine
individual solo goal.
Ian Daly picked himself up to stroke home City’s fourth from the
penalty spot on sixty three minutes and only a series of fine saves and
blocked goal bound shots prevented the scoreline from being even
greater.
It wasn’t all City though and only an excellent goal line clearance
from man of the match Ben Mee prevented Albion from breaching the City
back line.
It maybe only early in the season, but I have yet to see a better team
than City this season at this level and despite early reservations from
City insiders, this side stand a good chance of winning the league and
maybe a good bet for winning the FA Youth Cup.
