West Brom's Bag Wilts at City

MCFC U18s 3 – 1 WBAFC U18s

City recorded their third straight win to march ever onwards to the group C league title. Goals from David Ball, Javan Vidal and Ched Evans ensured a comfortable victory, even though West Brom pulled it back to 2-1 at one stage and did threaten City more, it was City’s tremendous first half play that won the game in all honesty, even if they went into the break at only one nil to the good.
City’s first goal came from a through ball from Karl Moore onto David Ball who finished well into the bottom corner.
City’s second came ten minutes into the second half, this time Ball was the provider and Vidal raced onto the flick and again finished into the bottom corner and in of the post.
West Brom then got their penalty when Clayton McDonald was adjudged to have hauled down their number four. The West Brom number ten converted it into the bottom corner.
So the game became a little nervier until ten minutes to go when Evans pounced on a loose back pass and was fouled on the edge of the area and the referee evened things up with the award. Evans coolly stepped forward and converted the penalty into the bottom corner.
West Brom’s number eleven obviously said something in dispute to the referee and he duly booked him having been booked in the first half the player was given his marching orders.
Good news for the City lads as United did us a big favour by beating Bolton three nil and giving us a 15 point lead in the league. That means that if we beat Barnsley next week, we have won our group.
