City Stumble Past Stoke
MCFC U18s 2 - 0 SCFC U18s
A less than convincing display from City at Platt lane today ended in City collecting all three points and remaining at the top of their group.
City took the lead in the thirty five minute when Vladimir Weiss was surrounded by at least three defenders and was brought down in the box and awarded a penalty.
Striker Ian Daly stepped up to convert the penalty with a strike straight down the centre; sending the keeper diving to his left.
City then left it late to seal the victory when Donal McDermott sent a cross in from the left that evaded the defender and David Ball nipped in and played the ball back for substitute Abdisalam
Ibrahim to slot the ball home.
City now face Wolves at home next week where I am sure they will field a younger team due to their home 3rd round FA youth cup tie on Wednesday 12th to be played at Hyde's Ewen Fields ground.
City: Mentel(GK), Trippier, Chantler, Mee, McDonald, Kay, Weiss, Tsiaklis(Ibrahim), I Daly(Poole), Mak(D Ball), McDermott.
Subs: Hartley(GK), Morris.
The U16s were given a good game but they scored a late winner to edge it 3 - 2.
