Sheffield United & Wednesday Seal Title

SUFC U18s 1 - 1 MCFC U18s

City secured the Division C Academy title by securing a point at Sheffield United due to the fact that second placed Manchester United failed to win at Sheffield Wednesday as they played out a two all draw this morning.

That leaves the status quo of seventeen points difference with only five game remaining. So along with the second leg FA Youth Cup semi final against Arsenal next month City will also be playing a league play off semi final against either Arsenal again, Sunderland or the winners of group B; likely to be Tottenham Hotspur.

City had gone one nil down ten minutes into the first half today to a very soft goal in as usual at Sheffield's Academy very windy conditions with a bit of sleet thrown in. City finally levelled four minutes before the break when a Kieran Trippier corner was headed goal wards by Abdi Ibrahim but was held on the line and Abdi got a boot on the ball to push it over the line.

Sheffield United will have to thank their excellent goalkeeper for not losing this match as he produced two of the highest quality saves from Jack Redshaw and Robbie Mak that were both powerful curling shots heading for the top corner that their goalkeeper did wonderfully to tip both balls behind for corners.

With our extremely superior goal difference a draw for all purposes was enough to win the league today; even if United had won at Wednesday. But by them failing to win it has handed the league title officially to the boy blues; and yet again it is an absolute pleasure to follow these young lads around the country to see all their hard work pay off and win the honours that they deserve; and we are still in March!

City now pack their backs to head across the pond to Dallas to play in a tournament where they will first play AC Milan in a prestigious mini tournament with some strong south American teams. On their return they will be gearing up for their attempt to over turn the one goal deficit in the FA Youth Cup semi-final at the Emirates on the 22nd April.

City: Clegg(GK), Trippier(Capt.), Cunningham, Wabara, Boyata, Tutte, Benali, Ibrahim, Mak, Redshaw, Chantler.

Subs: Wood(GK), Guidetti, Elabdellaoui, Tse, Helan.

Unfortunately City's young U16s were on an up hill battle and were defeated two nil.
