Manchester City have named a strong squad including 9 players who made first team appearances last season for tomorrow's friendly against Barrow at Holker Street.
The star name in the squad is 21 year old Ecuadorian international Felipe Caicedo who has made 27 appearances for Manchester City, and last season played 18 times on loan for Malaga in La
Liga.
He is joined by Javan Vidal who was on loan to Aberdeen and Derby County last season, and Kelvin Etuhu who has appeared in the Premiership for city, but last year was mainly seen on loan at
Cardiff City.

Research has found that he was at one stage with Crystal Palace and qualifies to play for the Ivory Coast

(25/7/2010)-Academy win in Germany
Manchester City 8 Empor Berlin 0
Further details to follow....
Scott Sellars was delighted as the Academy trip to Berlin got off to a great start with an 8-0 romp against local side Empor.
City's coach was not so much counting off the welter of goals during a one-sided second half as beaming at the way his young side gelled in their opening match.
Sellars said: "They're a new team coming together, and we had a few Under-16s in there as well. There was a lot to look at for the first game, not just the goals and result.
"It was good to see a lot of the stuff we'd worked on during the week coming out in the match, and as they tired we really started to put the final nail in the coffin."
City's youngsters had rubbed shoulders all week with the elite German athletes bound for Barcelona and the world championships, working hard in the 30-degree-plus heat.
They showed themselves to be a class act as Empor were swept aside at their Kienbaum training centre in the first of three matches the Academy will play in Berlin.
New signing Alex Henshall from Swindon and George Evans were among those who stood out in a fine warm-up for Tuesday's much tougher test against top Berlin club Hertha
Henshall was crudely floored by the goalkeeper to earn the penalty that allowed Brad Robinson to break the ice from the spot after 25 minutes, Evans having already hit the bar.
City dominated possession as they piled on the agony for their German opponents in a second half that left Sellars satisfied that their hard work had paid dividends.
Gunnar on the Mersey
Gunnar Nielsen has signed a new one year extension to his current deal and immediately has gone on loan to merseysiders Tranmere Rovers for a six month spell. With City fast traking Loris Karius up the goalkeeping pecking order; Gunnar will gain far more experience on loan at a lower league club such as Tranmere.

(20/7/2010)-Academy tour of Germany confirmed
As previously revealed on MCRAA 10 days ago and now just being reported on the official site, Citys academy are in Germany. They will be based in a state of the art training facility in Kienbaum, East Berlin. The newly unified German government have invested over 40 million euros over the past 16 years in this facility. So City youngsters will I am sure be well looked after and have all the benefits that a well funded training camp could offer such as underwater massage, sauna, infrared cabin, whirlpool and they even include a cold chamber which will do similar things that an ice bath/bins can offer to help soft tissue recover quicker. Here is City's official website's take on the tour:
City’s Academy squad have travelled to Germany for their pre-season training camp.
The young Blues will be based in Berlin and will play three friendlies during their 13-day stay.
“It’s all part of a furthering the players’ development,” said Academy manager Mark Allen.
The Blues have taken a squad of 23 to Germany, though several members will filter off at various points for international duty.
“The coaches on the trip will be Scott Sellars, Simon Davis and Paul Power and we’ll have a full backroom staff and a sport science team with us,” said Allen.
“We will be based at a facility that Hertha Berlin have used previously and came highly recommended so the players will have everything they need as we step up their fitness programmes
City’s Under-18s will be taking on Empor Berlin on July 24, Hertha Berlin on July 27 and TSG Neustrelitz on July 31.
“Our trip to Germany replaces our annual Alsager-based training camp,” said Allen.
“When we come back we are only in town for a couple of days before flying back out to a tournament in Oberdorf in Switzerland from August 5 to August 9.
“That will be our Under-19 team, but we’re just finalising the details of that trip at present.”
(19/7/2010)-Rodger's Rumour Resolved
The rumour that MCRAA had heard that Brendan Rogers might be on the verge of joining City in some capacity have been resolved over the weekend by the fact that Brendan has taken up the manager's job at Swansea City.
We at City still feel their is a need to bring in a respected highly qualified coach for older academy players to work with and we would be very surprised if an appointment is not made in this calendar year.

Thanks to our friend Max in Germany we can exclusively reveal that a City U19 side are to participate in the Oberndorf U19 turnier between 6th to 8th August
Unfortunately it´s in German only. As you can see it is an under 19 tournament played in two groups. There will be no semi final. The group winners will face each other directly in the final.
Groups/ Participants are:
Gruppe A: EC Vitoria Brasil, VfL Wolfsburg, AJ Auxerre, Zenit St. Petersburg, Borussia Dortmund
Gruppe B: SC Freiburg, Manchester City, Team Schwarzwald, AC Mailand, Bayer 04 Leverkusen
As for the German opponents:
"Team Schwarzwald" is not a club. Since the tournament is hosted in the black forest it is a team with players from several smaller clubs in the region.
(10/7/2010)-Academy to go to Germany
It looks like the academy sides normal two week boot camp at Alsager College will not happen this season, as rumours in Germany suggest that a City academy squad will be spending close on two weeks in Berlin and partcipate in at least three warm up games, one being against Hertha Berlin.

Dundee United today confirmed the transfer of Slovakian goalkeeper Filip Mentel from Manchester City, subject to formalities and international clearance. The 20 year old has agreed a three year contract and will be included in the travelling party for United's pre season training camp in Austria.
Filips contract at City must have ended because its a good two seasons since he last played for City, since he suffered a knee injury playing for the reserves in a friendly against a Thailand X1 and then further damaging the same knee when playing for Slovakia and we all thought he had either retired or gone back home. GOOD LUCK FILIP
(7/7/2010)-City sign young Slovakian
Manchester City have signed Slovak starlet Albert Rusnak, according to MFK Kosice.
The Slovakian outfit have revealed that Rusnak, who has previously spent time on trial at Eastlands, has finalised his move to England.
Kosice have agreed an undisclosed deal with City, who have handed Rusnak a three-year contract.
There is something strange about this one, Albert has been at City for at least a couple of years and was a regular in last years U16, so this must be the longest trial in footballing
history.
He was not included in this seasons academy scholars intake and Like Stockport Blue was under the impression he had gone the same route as Marcello Trotta and joined Fulham, however i also know for
definite he also went on trial to Liverpool
