City Go Four Points Clear

City Go Four Points Clear

MCFC Reserves  1 -  0  NUFC Reserves

A dour game at the Regional Athletics Arena saw City take all three points courtesy of a first half Ishmael Miller header. Both sides fielded young and inexperienced teams. City started with the in-vogue premiership formation of four five one with Miller being the lone striker.

Neither keeper were really tested throughout the game as City only managed four shots on target all match; and three being in the first half. The only time that Kasper Schmeichel was really tested as well, was on set pieces, which were dealt with comfortably, thanks to Micah Richards marshalling the back line so dominantly.

City’s goal came from an early cross from captain, Danny Warrender, from forty yards out on the right hand side and Miller rose unchallenged to loop his header over Steve Harper into the near post corner of the net and make it two goals in two games.

City’s unbeaten reserve league campaign means that we now are four points clear at the top of the league. City now have their final match of their four home match run against Blackburn next Tuesday where I am sure a slightly more experienced line up will be seen as the senior pros would have been making their preparations for the Carling Cup match away at Doncaster on Wednesday.
