Ben MeeDate of Birth: 21/09/1989
Originally captain of Manchester City’s academy and Reserve teams, Mee has long been a leader at the club, and is set to be the next in line of a spate of recent defensive products over the last few years. He broke through to national attention during City’s run to the FA Youth Cup Final, where captain Mee scored a crucial goal in the second leg against Chelsea and ultimately lifted the trophy as captain.
It led to him being selected as a late replacement call-up to England’s European Under-19 Championship squad, where he emerged as the best player in a disappointing tournament. It was even more of an achievement as he played in an unfamiliar midfield role.He later went on to represent his country at under 20 and under 21 level.
He is a robust, committed, a good organiser, and is generally hard to beat for opposing players. He shows enough pace and strength to get him out of jail when needed but his positioning and reading of the game prevent him from getting into that position too often.
City recognised this in February of 2009 by offering Mee a new deal to expire in 2011, Spent part of the 2010/11 season on loan at Leicester City.
Joined Burnley on loan for the 2011/12 season(14th July 2011)
