Manchester United Lose at the Real Academy

City after an early scare of going one nil down from poor defending went on to win this mini-derby comfortably and to move 17 points ahead of Manchester United in the league and 10 points clear at the top of the table after only 14 games.
United scored in the sixth minute when no one picked the player running in at the near post. Within a minute City had equalized when a fierce shot from Adam Clayton hit the post but fortunately rebounded out and there was Ched Evans who ran in and fired past the retreating defenders.
City then took an early second half lead when good persistence from Karl Moore on the edge of the box, clipped a good cross at the back post for David Ball to stoop to head in and loop over the defender on the line.
City doubled their lead when United’s defence were static from a long through ball by Paul Marshall allowed David Ball to run on and round the keeper and slot the ball home.
This game will be bitter sweet for the lads as I am sure that obviously they were happy with today’s result, but they I am sure would rather still be in the FA Youth Cup after their disappointing penalties exit at Millwall last week.
