Carrington Curse Continues

MUFC U18s 4 – 2 MCFC U18s

For some reason the U18s teams always seem to be the ones to come away with nothing from MUFC training headquarters for some years now even though they rarely get outplayed. That is in stark contrast to the U16s who always seem to get a result there.
I think the three possible reasons you can point to are firstly the central midfield fails to drive forward with the ball or make runs off it, secondly Ched Evans does a great job at holding the ball up and putting defences on the back foot, but he does not have a partner like Danny Sturridge in the box to finish his good approach play off. The third one is perhaps a minor one, but as United academy use the 1st teams overly pampered surroundings that United players are obviously well used to, it has a psychological effect on the away players.
Anyway despite city scoring goals from Ben Mee and captain Garry Breen united finished well with their four goals with a brace from young Fabien Brandy who unlike his older ex academy team-mate Giuseppe Rossi I think Brandy has what it takes to make it in the top half of the premiership and he was a player that stood out against City and you would point to him being that class above as the difference in the two teams.

As mentioned before the U16s beat united 2-1 to keep some local pride with the Platt Lane league leading academy side.

City face surprise bottom of the league Liverpool after they had beaten City in the FA Youth Cup final last season this weekend at Platt Lane at 11am.
