Liverpool Hold Out For a Draw
MCFC U18s 1 - 1 LFC U18s
In a game that City dominated most of the play Liverpool's goalkeeper was at his best to deny City securing their twenty first victory of the season. City finally equalized quite late in the second
half after from a usual David Ball three yard goal after Liverpool had gone in front twenty minutes earlier.
The game could have been two one in favour of Liverpool inside the first three minutes but good goalkeeping and good defending eventually prevented the goals.
City's finishing was probably the worst culprit in all of this as most of their efforts went wide and it was perhaps very reminiscent of last Friday's game at Sheffield when wave after wave of attack
resulted in the ball not being kept on target.
Liverpool's goal came from their Captain, the number six when he drove towards the area and shot from about twenty yards that took a deflection and went into the top corner of the goal.
Robbie Mak was substituted on seventy five minutes and Adrian Cieslewicz replaced him and went wide right and Vladimir Weiss then took a free role, but more often was on the left. That move led to
City's equalizer when Weiss held the ball up on the left whilst being surrounded by defenders before nutmegging the player with a cheeky flick into the path of Donal McDermott who drove forward and
crossed to where Ball fired past the goalkeeper.
City still have two games remaining in which to beat their twenty one wins in a season record with games at Nottingham Forest and home to Everton.
City: Hartley(GK), Trippier, McGivern, Boyata, Ramsey, Tutte, Weiss, Kay(Capt.), Mak(Cieslewicz 75), Ball, McDermott.
