Academy Back to Winning Ways
A first half strike from Karl Moore in their away trip to Liverpool's academy at Kirby was enough to see City continue their unbeaten run, but more importantly get a much needed victory after a
couple of disappointing draws. City were under pressure for most of the first half and were quite fortunate to take the lead against the run of play. A much better second half performance put
Liverpool under greater pressure at times, but a solid defensive display meant a clean sheet and the three points to City.
City: Schmeichel(GK), Logan, Williamson, S Evans, Ward, Marshall, Obeng(Grimes), Johnson, Etuhu(C Evans), Sturridge(?), Moore.
(?) = City's part of the team sheet as always was wrong and as I watched the full game of U16s - wasn't able to assertain the identity of the 3rd sub.
The U16s was a very entertaining game finishing 5-1 to City. City were 5-0 up at half time and could have easily won 10/11-1 had they finished their chances in the second half. They will have been
disappointed with the silly second half penalty for Liverpool that was well saved at the first attempt but was put in on the rebound, very similar to Zenden for Liverpool's first team.
