Date of Birth: 4/05/1991
City wrapped up a deal for Fjellhamar starlet (his previous clubs included Oyer Tretten and Lorenskog)Abdisalam Ibrahim when the 15-year-old midfielder signed a three-year deal at Eastlands and joined City's academy as he looked to forge a career in England.
He was discovered by City scout Barry Poynton when playing for Norway in Turkey in an U16 tournament and invited for a fortnights trial and was then soon offered a three year deal beating off interst from Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham.
A move to City represented a long standing dream for the Norwegian youth international.
His father also re-located to Manchester and became City’s Somalian Community Liaison Officer. There are now a number of younger Somalian players training at the academy – and the club say that they are delighted to be working closer with the community.
He made his first team debut in the FA Cup tie at Scunthorpe, a team he was later to join on loan in the 2010/11 season
Abdisalam has represented Norway at every age group from Under 15 to Under 21. He is still eligible for both his native country Somalia as well as his adopted country.
