Normally at this point, you get a comprehensive match report, but due to circumstances beyond our control we never made the game.

MCRAA had a couple of guests with them as we set off from South Manchester in plenty of time to take advantage of a very reasonably priced hospitality package at Swindon Town.

On reflection a Guardian Angel must have been looking down on us as we narrowly missed a serious road traffic accident on the M5 near Cheltenham, but for a five minute relief stop in a motorway service station, we could have been involved.

The accident happened between junctions 10 and 11, between Cheltenham and Gloucester, shortly after 5pm., not far from where we due to come off

A Bargain Booze lorry travelling northbound just past junction 11 collided with several cars and went through the central reservation and collided with vehicles travelling Southbound. At least five people were injured in the crash  with one victim being airlifted to hospital

The motorway was subsequently closed in both directions and we sat there for near on 5 hours and never moved.

So there may have been the disappointment on our half of not making the match and a new ground for some  of our travelling party but thankfully nobody lost their life

So here is a match report from a Swindon publication.....
