Everton Take the Gloss Off
MCFC U18s 0 - 1 EFC U18s
A late first half strike from Everton meant that City league campaign ended slightly flat. City however fielded a much younger side than Everton with all Wednesday's Youth Cup winners who started
being rested.
With Everton coming second best to City all season their players showed a greater desire to win the game and their number ten up front who scored the winning goal was a real handful for the City
defence and he fully deserved his goal which was a well struck shot across Filip Mentel in the City goal.
City gave themselves a better account of their play in the second half; but that probably had quite a bit to do with Everton substituting their number ten and playing a more of a one man up front
formation. That allowed City to play three at the back and bring on Adrian Cieslewicz to make it virtually four up front. But although City were able to test the goalkeeper the Everton defence held
strong to finish their season on a high.
City's season however continues with the play-offs at the Athletics arena next Monday(28th) against Sunderland with a 7pm kick off.
Kieran Trippier was up and about at Platt lane today without the plastic cast boot that he was fitted with immediately after the incident and he is hopeful he will be fit next Monday for yet another
vital game.
City: Mentel(GK), Ramsey(Cieslewicz), Morris, Paldan, Brown(Capt.), Chantler(Cunningham), Tsiaklis, Ibrahim, I Daly, Nimley-Tchuimeni, Poole.
Subs: Redshaw, Clegg(GK)
The U16s also faired the same with Everton winning three one.
