Blackburn Rovers Defeated in City's Sixth Win
MCFC U18s 1 – 0 BRFC U18s
City made hard work of their comfortable sixth consecutive victory as a scoreline of six or seven nil would not have flattered City as they missed chance after chance. Fortunately mid way through the
second half a fine curling shot from Karl Moore from good work by Ched Evans in the box gave the blues their sixth consecutive victory and restored their 10 point advantage at the top of their league
going into the Christmas break.
David Ball, Paul Marshall, Moore and Evans were all guilty at missing gilt edge chances to score in atrocious conditions as the rain grew steadily stronger as the game wore on, but although Blackburn
are a big physical side and with a centre half that grew up in a green house they still could not get past our impressive defence and Filip Mentel did not have a testing save to make all game.
City’s new year campaign starts away to Liverpool on the 6th January and given our strong advantage in the league and our omission from the youth cup it might be as well to push some of the better
U16s players up into the U18s category and concentrate the older players on the Pontins and Premier reserve teams.
City: Mentel(GK), Vidal, Mee, McDonald(Obeng 62), Breen(Capt.), Marshall, Clayton, Kay, Evans, Ball, Moore.
The U16s had played their fixture against Blackburn at the usual Saturday kick off and City won that game 2-0.
