Blackburn Eight the Sight of City

BRFC U18s 0 - 8(Eight) MCFC U18s

There is usually a bit of needle between these two teams at this age group; but this result today will clearly take it to the next level. This was City's biggest winning margin this season and now means they have scored forty goals in ten games; twelve of those coming from our Liberian wonder kid Alex Nimley-Tchuimeni as he got a brace today.
City's other scorers were a brace apiece for Ahmed Benali and Chris Chantler and a goal a piece for Andrew Tutte and Robbie Mak.

City did not have it all their own way in the opening minutes as Blackburn pressed and forced a couple of saves from goalkeeper Joe Clegg; but as soon as City opened their account in the twentieth minute in all fairness it was pretty much one way traffic.

That city goal came when Benali dispossessed the defender and slipped the ball through to Robbie Mak who drove into the box and drilled a low hard shot past the advancing goalkeeper.

City doubled their lead five minutes later when Mak drove down the right and held the ball up and then drove the ball into Chantler on the edge of the box who then checked onto his left foot and curled a great shot into the top left hand corner
of the goal.

Within a minute the game was over as Nimley made a solo run from just inside the Blackburn half and bamboozled the defence and fired his shot into the bottom corner of the net as the players surrounded Alex in his celebrations.

City's fourth goal came eight minutes later when again Robbie Mak turned provider as he slipped the ball to an advancing Benali who touched the ball past the goalkeeper and then drove the ball into an empty net.

With five minutes remaining of the first half City made it five when Abdi Ibrahim drove into the box and sent in a good cross and he set himself and drove a drilling strike past the goalkeeper and make the half time team talk very easy for Alex Gibson and Jim Cassell.

City scored the sixth goal when Chantler drove down the left and crossed in where Ibrahim picked the ball up and then lofted the ball into the far post where Mak chested the ball down for Benali who fired the ball past the hapless goalkeeper.

Four minutes later City were in seventh heaven when Chantler and Greg Cunningham played a very good one two down the left hand side and the ball was played back and captain Tutte drove the ball into the far corner from over twenty yards with a rasping shot.

City's final goal came in the eighty fourth minute when the Blackburn defender failed to deal with a ball and substitute John Guidetti stole in and then centre a ball for the advancing Nimley who despite close attention from a few defenders was able to bundle the ball over the line.

City now face second place Liverpool at Platt Lane next week with a 11am kick off; and so a victory there will put City seven points clear of them.
